In deep mourning:
An obituary for Günter Buschmann
Our co-founder and long-time managing director, shareholder and honorary chairman of the supervisory board Günter Buschmann has passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 85.
Together with Joachim Armerding, his good friend from his days as a trainee in Bremen, he built up the firm of HANSA-FLEX in the 1960s and played a key role in shaping it for decades as managing director and shareholder.
Their joint success story began in 1968, when Günter Buschmann became a partner in the young hydraulics company that Joachim Armerding had founded six years earlier in Bremen as a one-man operation. After the first branch was established in Osnabrück, Günter Buschmann devoted himself to the expansion of the East Westphalia region and coined the name HANSA-FLEX in 1974.
Side by side the two partners developed their company during the following years and decades from a small northern German workshop-based enterprise to the European market leader in the hydraulics sector.
Their lifelong friendship established the close ties between the Armerding and Buschmann families, who still guide the fortunes of HANSA-FLEX AG today as owners and board members.
Günter Buschmann himself retired from the operational business in 2005. He then remained with the company as honorary chairman of the supervisory board.
The always modest Hanseatic businessman was proud of his life's work and took great pleasure in following the further development of HANSA-FLEX, which his sons Uwe and Jörg have decisively influenced for many years as deputy chairman of the executive board and head of the Germany business division and member of the supervisory board. He was also very touched by the fact that his grandchildren Thorben and Cedric, the third generation of the Buschmann family, have recently become involved in the company.
Günter Buschmann led a fulfilled life marked by great happiness and many close, lifelong friendships. In mid-May the keen motor sportsman and sailor passed away suddenly and unexpectedly and without suffering, just as he had always wished. We will greatly miss his calm, equable manner and his open-minded and interested personality. Our deepest sympathy goes to his loved ones.
We are very grateful for the time we spent together and will always have fond memories of Günter Buschmann's appreciative and sincere manner. We thank him for all that he has left us, and will cherish his entrepreneurial values with pride and a sense of responsibility as we continue to carry on his life's work in the same spirit.
Our special sympathy goes to his family and loved ones.
On behalf of the supervisory board, management board and workforce of HANSA-FLEX AG
