Passage control for historic vintage cars

On the last weekend of June, the participants of the Donau Classic Oldtimer Rally started their engines for the 14th time and embarked on a total of three day tours through Donaumoos, the Altmühltal and the Hallertau. An important stop was not to be missed on this approximately 650 km long route: the HANSA-FLEX transit control on the premises of the Central Warehouse South in Geisenfeld. HANSA-FLEX had already organised this as a sponsor of the Donau Classic in 2016 and 2017.

A total of 300 participants and their 150 vehicles passed by this time in the best summer weather and picked up the important HANSA-FLEX stamp for their road book. This stamp gave them important points for their later place in the overall standings.

The participants came from all over the world this year and with their companions looked like a rolling museum: whether classics like an Audi Quattro, BMW 2002 or Mercedes SL or more unusual models like a DKW fast truck from 1958 or an ovali beetle from the same year - there was something for every classic car enthusiast!

A HANSA-FLEX employee also took part in the rally again with his 1953 Ford F100 pickup and represented the company.

We would like to thank all participants and visitors for the great Oldtimer Day!

HANSA-FLEX Football Tournament 2019: A review

Two weekends ago numerous HANSA-FLEX employees were taken to the mountains. To be more precise, to the beautiful Zillertal in Austria. Once again it was time for the traditional HANSA-FLEX football tournament - and as the venue reveals, last year's winner Austria was the host of this 17th World Cup.

Almost 700 players and fans from 20 nations, divided into 32 teams, provided soccer fun and excitement this weekend. Remarkable: Never before had so many teams taken part in a HANSA-FLEX football tournament. In the end, however, the battle for the world championship title was decided in a high-class final between Team Poland and Team Bavaria. With a final score of 3:1 Team Poland grabbed the trophy - and became not only World Champion 2019, but also host of the soccer tournament 2020.

We would like to thank HANSA-FLEX Austria for the great organisation, all players and fans for their commitment and good mood, and are already looking forward to the upcoming tournament in Poland!

Lean and efficient procurement

In order to further exploit the opportunities offered by digitalisation, at HANSA-FLEX the purchasing processes for supplementary materials will, in future, be simplified by an e-procurement platform. In the near future and initially only in Germany, the platform will enable all branches, production areas and specialist departments to procure articles such as work clothing, office materials, hygiene articles and tools with the greatest possible convenience. The existing product range was defined in advance by various specialist departments and negotiated with selected suppliers in indirect purchasing operations. The platform enables targeted searches in various product groups, and guides users to the desired articles with just a few clicks.

“All in all we have reduced the procurement process for supplementary materials by more than half, from the initial notification of requirements to the posting of incoming goods,” explains Klaas Henning from Supply Chain Management, who has been responsible for the platform launch as project manager since the beginning of March 2018. “We can significantly reduce the time and effort involved in arranging individual orders, and we benefit from increased process reliability and data quality as well as from the bundling of our purchasing volumes in indirect purchasing.” The platform is currently being tested in practice in two regions. It will be rolled out successively throughout Germany in the further course of the year. “The aim is to make the procurement process in business operations just as simple for users as their private purchases are. The platform is a real joint project from which everyone at HANSA-FLEX will benefit,” says Edwin Maringka, Head of Materials Management.

New location and expansion of mobile services

The HANSA-FLEX country organisations are experiencing positive growth and are expanding their coverage. New branches opened in Koper (Slovenia) and Khashuri (Georgia). Additional vehicles of the Rapid Hydraulic Service were also put into service in Graz (Austria) and in Gemenos (France). In Germany, too, our mobile services are expanding further.

In addition, the mobile fleet in La Rochelle (France) will be strengthened from April. At the Vogelsdorf branch just outside Berlin the HANSA-FLEX Fluid Service now has an additional, fully equipped service vehicle for the on-site prevention, identification and repair of oil-related machinery problems at our customers’ premises. Another fluid service vehicle is used at the Dägeling site.

An all-round view behind the HANSA-FLEX scenes

Have you ever wondered what everyday working life at HANSA-FLEX looks like?

We are aware that not only hydraulics & co. are complex topics. We also know that it is not self-explanatory what our colleagues at HANSA-FLEX do for important and exciting tasks in the various professional fields. Especially prospective trainees often have no idea what lies behind the general job titles or why they should apply for a job at HANSA-FLEX.

We want to change that!

That is why we have accompanied eight of our colleagues in their work or in their training. Thanks to the innovative 360° video technology, you can now take a look in all directions and discover HANSA-FLEX and a handful of its (training) professions and services from a new perspective. An overview of all videos can be found here and on our YouTube channel.

Our tip: To take full advantage of the impressive 360° technology, it is best to use your smartphone or tablet in combination with a VR cardboard or VR glasses. It feels like you're right in the middle of it instead of just being there. But you can also enjoy an all-round view of the HANSA-FLEX world on your PC. Simply click through the video with your mouse. If possible, also activate the highest resolution (4K) so that you don't miss a single detail.

More space for humans and bees

Since its first beginnings in a garage in 1991, the Hennigsdorf branch has enjoyed steady growth. While customer requirements and orders have risen steadily over the years, the available space has declined. After an initial expansion in 2000, HANSA-FLEX employees were able to celebrate the opening of their 300 m² new warehouse together with customers on 11 May. But here there is not only more space for goods, but also for smaller inhabitants of the earth: the bees.

Eight bee trees and bee-friendly hedges such as cherry laurel or broom were planted in the outdoor area of the hall. These flower at different times of the year so that the busy bees can find food all year round. These plants were christened together with the pupils of a school class at Hennigsdorfer Grundschule Nord - which had moved its lessons to the new warehouse - and a local beekeeper.

The children received a gift of honey from the beekeeper, whose jars were decorated with the logo of the nationwide initiative "Made in Germany - Made by Vielfalt". So the pupils should not only be shown that HANSA-FLEX supports diversity in all its forms, but that we can all learn one thing from the bees: They live a peaceful, friendly coexistence.

Visitor records and innovations at the leading trade fairs

Full stands, a good atmosphere, many orders and numerous high-quality contacts - the major leading trade fairs in spring were excellent for HANSA-FLEX. At both the Hannover Messe (1 to 5 April) and the bauma in Munich (8 to 14 April), the trade fair team was able to report consistently positive feedback and new visitor records at the HANSA-FLEX stand.

Both trade fairs presented themselves more internationally than ever before and reported a particularly high proportion of foreign visitors. Among its 215,000 trade visitors, the Hannover Messe for the first time recorded a share of almost 40% of international guests. More than 250,000 of the total of 620,000 trade visitors from abroad travelled to Munich for the "Rekord-bauma".

HANSA-FLEX offered a whole range of new products to the top-class public. One of the highlights was the innovative SRS parachute clamp, a modular bracket for simplified tool-free assembly of pipes and hoses. It met with a positive response and great interest such as the further developments in hose management My.HANSA-FLEX or the integration of RFID technology for contactless reading of X-CODE hose markings.

Matthias Henke, Head of Sales and Marketing at HANSA-FLEX AG, was correspondingly highly satisfied with the two successful trade fair participations. "The bottom line was that we received numerous highly interesting orders and enquiries as well as various high-quality and exciting contacts. In addition, we had a truly outstanding atmosphere at our stand, for which I would once again like to express my sincere thanks to everyone involved.

A cheering atmosphere, the scent of grass, football stars up close and personal: once you enter the Weserstadion like the pros - a wish of many little football fans. HANSA-FLEX made it possible for the 8-year-old Leonel (first photo on the left), an employee child, to have this fantasy. The son of Viktor Lipps (headquarters) was drawn by lot as the "Referee Kid". At the exciting Werder-BVB game last Saturday, which ended 2:2, he was allowed to run in at the hand of the linesman.

He would love to be there again - he hasn't taken off his jersey since then.

We are very happy that Leonel had so much fun!

HANSA-FLEX clears up Mahndorf industrial estate

Diapers, food packaging, hubcaps, paint buckets, ... - the list could be almost endless. The result of our second participation in the garbage collection campaign "Bremen clears up" is both strange and impressive - as one of 61 companies we took part in the clean-up campaign of the environmental initiative and contributed to an environmentally conscious cooperation with about 30 bags for the second time.

Many thanks to all our hard-working helpers - we are sure to be back next year!

About the initiative

Bremen räumt auf“ is an environmental initiative that motivates citizens to be environmentally aware. Already for the 17th time, Bremen citizens were committed to our city and liberated it from garbage. Since 2002, more than 205,000 environmentally conscious people have collected more than 375 tons of discarded waste. In addition to public institutions, private individuals, associations and groups, companies also take part.

Directly at the heartbeat of the construction industry

You will find us at Stand 808/1 on the outdoor area "Mitte (Center)" (FM).

The HANSA-FLEX Event Mobile will be on site all the time.

A conclusion: The training adventure by Daniel Witzke

Last November, our trainee Daniel Witzke from the HANSA-FLEX branch in Celle received a very special order: The third-year trainee in wholesale and foreign trade was asked to travel to the United Arab Emirates for two weeks for a foreign assignment. An exciting challenge for the 22-year-old: "After all, I am still a 'pupil' myself, how can I function as a 'teacher' in a distant country? But in retrospect, that worked very well.

Daniel grew beyond himself during his stay and mastered challenges such as working in a foreign language despite exhausting jetlag and dealing with a foreign culture, its customs and traditions. Daniel not only supported his local colleagues in optimizing administrative processes and dealing with SAP, but also experienced many exciting, funny and unexpected adventures.

At the end of November, our trainee returned to Germany. After a little time and distance to digest the collected impressions, he comes to the following conclusion:

The commitment and time in general have not strengthened my feeling for the first time that it is a privilege to work at HANSA-FLEX. It is rare to find a corporate structure that is faced with global challenges, but in which a sense of togetherness that was previously unknown to me prevails, across national and cultural borders. (...) If I reflect on this time now, my basic impression of this commitment in the United Arab Emirates is overwhelmingly positive. Even with long consideration there is no aspect that remains negative in my memory. (...) The experiences I have gained over the two weeks are of great value to me.

Anyone who has now become curious and would like to learn more about Daniel and his educational adventure in the United Arab Emirates can read his detailed reports on our Facebook page.
